A following patch will switch to the kernel 5.15 for all qemu defconfigs but the IDE support (used by mips malta) has been removed from the Linux kernel since 5.14 release [1]. Enable the SCSI support and update the kernel command line. Run the emulation with: qemu-system-mips -M malta -kernel output/images/vmlinux -serial stdio -drive file=output/images/rootfs.ext2,format=raw -append "rootwait root=/dev/sda" -net nic,model=pcnet -net user # qemu_mips32r2_malta_defconfig The login prompt will appear in the terminal that started Qemu. The graphical window is the framebuffer. No keyboard support has been enabled.
