I get no connection to this server from the android client, but with a web-browser from the same mobile phone.

the assumption is that the self-signed SSL cert is causing android to choke.
Solutions are:
* Find a real SSL cert (e.g. a free one from startssl or letsencrypt or whatever)
* Make your own CA and use that (and add it to your phone)
* Use https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=cert&fdid=at.bitfire.cadroid to specify an exception?
* Use HTTP (ugh).

body: I have a own CA. So I will use a own certificate. I will share my conclusion here, but this needs time. Thx @Matthew so far.
