Generate `__init__.py` files for enum-only modules ()
The current Python code generator does not emit `__init__.py` files for
modules that only contain enumerations. This is problematic in cases
such as https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/issues/16221, whereby
`pulumi-command` wishes to define an enumeration to be shared across
modules, in a module with no other types or resources. In such cases, an
SDK is generated that does not type check, since the enumeration types
are not exported appropriately. This commit addresses this by generating
`__init__.py` files in these cases as expected.

This is the bare bones changes required to update the provider interface
for parametrization. Nothing in the engine, sdks, cli, or codegen makes
use of these new methods yet.

But providers team can start building on top of this interface. Note
that this is subject to change, while this is _likely_ the right design
for parametrised providers there is a chance that we need to edit this
interface before GA release.

update dotnet version in tests to latest ()
Update to the latest dotnet version. Pulumi.Awsx started depending on
that, so using an earlier version makes the tests fail.

This happened a few times now, so we should really fix this in a way
that doesn't require us to hardcode this version. But I want to get the
merge queue unblocked, and this is probably the quickest way to do that.

Resource docs: emit supporting types beyond the 200 limit ()

# Description

Originally motivated by uncontrolled pseudo-recurcive type expansion in
AWS WafV2, we've limited the number of types that we should in the docs
to 200: https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/pull/12070

Our large customer that publishes their own packages and docs came back
to us and said they have legitimate use cases with more than 200 types:

I've grabbed stats about our current packages and still found a few
offenders:

```
"aws:lex/v2modelsIntent:V2modelsIntent" 920
"aws:wafv2/ruleGroup:RuleGroup" 310
"aws:wafv2/webAcl:WebAcl" 523
"azure-native:datafactory:Dataset" 256
"azure-native:datafactory:LinkedService" 299
"azure-native:datafactory:Pipeline" 618
"azure-native:datamigration:ServiceTask" 291
"azure-native:datamigration:Task" 291
"aws-native:quicksight:Analysis" 589
"aws-native:quicksight:Dashboard" 606
"aws-native:quicksight:Template" 590
```

Therefore, I'm not entirely removing the limit in this PR, but
a) bumping the default to 1000
b) applying 200 to the known offenders only

I don't love it's hard coded, but I haven't found a place to add simple
configuration nob. Anyway, it's slightly less hard-coded than it used to
be.

Sort `requirements.txt` files when generating Python code ()
A couple of our tests now generate multi-line `requirements.txt` whose
order is dependent on that in which we enumerate packages when testing.
This PR changes this so that we always sort them, meaning we can
consistently check against snapshotted results (as opposed to having
flaky tests that only pass when the generated order matches the one we
happened to snapshot last).

upgrade to latest version of golangci-lint ()
The version we currently have doesn't support Go 1.22 properly, so it
throws a bunch of warnings locally when trying to run it with the latest
Go version installed. Just running the latest version locally also
doesn't quite work, since it throws a bunch of errors from the
perfsprint linter, which seems to have gotten stricter.

Upgrade to the latest version of golangci-lint, and fix all the errors
we're getting from it. Mostly done via `perfsprint -fix`, with some
manual changes that `perfsprint -fix` wouldn't touch.

This adds a conformance test that checks that StackReferences work.
Tests a plain string and a secret string output.

To support this test we add a new intrinsic `getOutput` that takes a
stack reference resource and a string and calls the
`get_output/getOutput/GetOutput` method on the stack reference resource
type.

use yarn less in nodejs codegen tests ()
Whenever yarn runs it holds a global lock, preventing any other yarn
process from running. Since our tests potentially try to run multiple
yarn processes in parallel, this reduces the potential for parallelism
in the tests dramatically.

By using `npm install` instead of `yarn install`, and runnig `tsc`
directly instead of using `yarn run`, the time to run this test goes
from >500s to ~90s when trying to run `nodejs/gen_program_test/batch1`.

Similar improvements can be expected from the other batches. This should
also help speed up CI, since this is part of the long tail of long
running tests.

This is another thing I noticed during the hackathon (running all tests
locally with bazel the difference was even more extreme).

# Description

Currently, our resource API docs for Python only display a type name
itself. If the type is defined in a different module, we do not indicate
this explicitly, which causes confusion.

For example, [K8s Pod
Inputs](https://www.pulumi.com/registry/packages/kubernetes/api-docs/core/v1/pod/#inputs)
is in `core.v1` module itself but refer to the `meta.v1.ObjectMeta`
type. Node.js docs display the type as

<img width="719" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/assets/1454008/fb3e8fc5-7dc8-4661-ac6f-95e7d7918cfc">

but Python simply shows

<img width="725" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/assets/1454008/4cd4c09c-13cb-4070-b716-0b78ad98379b">

The same problem exists when we reference types from external packages,
and even for composed types like `Sequence[some_external_type]`.

This PR removes a special case for Python that reduces a full type name
to its name. Instead, it executes on the same path as Node.js and C#.

I had to apply some cleaning to Python types to remove underscore
prefixes of modules. We use underscore-prefixed imports in SDK gen, but
they should not be visible in user docs.

I expect we need to apply the same fix to Go, but I suggest we do that
as a follow-up.

Testing: the existing test suite seems adequate for testing the change.
All the discrepancies look like improvements to me.

[sdk-gen, dotnet/go] Fixes SDK-generation when referencing shared types in config variables ()
# Description

Fixes
- In .NET, non-primitive types such as objects used in config variables
will be generated anyways under the `Types` namespace as plain-shaped
objects inside of the `Config` class. This is because the types from
`Outputs` or `Inputs` cannot be used directly from config. Also no
longer marking objects used from config variables as "outputs" (doesn't
make any sense)

- In Go, disable adding imports into the `config.go` based on used
shared types because these are not used/referenced in the config module
anywhere anyways.

Fixes https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/issues/15075.

This doubles up the conformance tests to run with `tsc` instead of
`ts-node`. Getting this to work in the conformance framework required a
bit of pushing the envelope for what it means to "install dependencies"
and "run", but it works for testing, and isn't horribly exposed to
users.

It also points out a couple of things that we might want to clean up for
users wanting the same workflow.
1. Adding a `Build` command (which we might want for the type checker
work added in https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/pull/15725 as well).
2. If you set "main" to ./bin because you're using tsc, you can't then
use InstallDependencies because to start with the "bin" folder is
missing.

[program-gen/tests] Replace discriminated unions test program with a program from a synthetic schema of basic unions ()
# Description

This PR replaces the test program `discriminated-unions` with a new
program `basic-unions` that uses a synthetic schema that has basic union
definitions.

The former program was failing compilation with Go because of a
**faulty** azure-native SDK (tests using v1.56.0). It didn't generate
the extra types for union objects (those with suffix `Args`). Those
missing extra types are added in newer versions of azure-native SDK but
the shape of the same resource doesn't have unions anymore so we can't
just upgrade the version of the azure-native sdk we are testing with.

I decided not to depend on a specific azure-native SDK and instead use a
synthetic schema with the sole purpose of showing that we can emit
correct code for fields assigned to object which are bound to different
union cases. The downside here is that we can't compile the example for
any language since it is a synthetic schema with no generated SDK
(conformance tests in Go would make this possible but we are far away
from that 😢)

Closes since the original issue was due to faulty SDK, not
program-gen.

[docs] Implement Java constructor syntax examples ()
# Description

This PR implements Java constructor syntax examples, rendering them into
the docs. It upgrades pulumi-java to 0.10.0 which includes features from
https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi-java/pull/1338

It also updates contructor syntax generator to emit an unbound variable
for resource-typed properties. We use the name of the resource as the
name of the variable:
```typescript
const example = new Resource("name", { pet: randomPet })
````
where `pet` is a property that is typed as `random.RandomPet` so it gets
assigned the (unbound) variable called `randomPet`

Previously we would skip emitting any code for resource-typed
properties. I think this gives better docs even though it doesn't
compile

We need this for local dependencies in conformance tests for SDKs and
programs. Things like NodeJS just record the path as is in the
package.json put into the packed tgz, if a program then uses that tgz
via a relative path NodeJS doesn't re-resolve the relative relative
paths.
Making these absolute for conformance testing fixes that as all the
conformance tests do run in a stable folder location. We fix writing
that folder path to the snapshots using the new regex replace facility
added in https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/pull/15747.

Add SupportPack to schemas to write out in the new style ()

# Description

This adds a new flag to the schema metadata to tell codegen to use the
new proposed style of SDKs where we fill in versions and write go.mods
etc.

I've reworked pack to operate on packages assuming they're in this new
style. That is pack no longer has the responsibility to fill in any
version information.

This updates python and node codegen to write out SDKs in this new
style, and fixes their core libraries to still be buildable via pack.
There are two approaches to fixing those, I've chosen option 1 below but
could pretty easily rework for option 2.

1) Write the version information directly to the SDKs at the same time
as we edit the .version file. To simplify this I've added a new
'set-version.py' script that takes a version string an writes it to all
the relevant places (.version, package.json, etc).

2) Write "pack" in the language host to search up the directory tree for
the ".version" file and then fill in the version information as we we're
doing before with envvar tricks and copying and editing package.json.

I think 1 is simpler long term, but does force some amount of cleanup in
unrelated bits of the system right now (release makefiles need a small
edit). 2 is much more localised but keeps this complexity that
sdk/nodejs sdk/python aren't actually valid source modules.

codegen testing: use latest pulumi dotnet version ()
We're currently failing tests because of a nuget error. It looks like
Pulumi.Awsx has started depending on the 3.60 dotnet SDK version, but
we're still using 3.59 here. It looks like this ends up in test as nuget
complains about "error NU1605: Warning As Error: Detected package
downgrade: Pulumi from 3.60.0 to 3.59.0. Reference the package directly
from the project to select a different version."

Not sure if this is the actual fix, not knowing much about dotnet, but
it looks like it might be the problem.

Right now the merge queue fails consistently because of this error.

[program-gen] Fix enum resolution from types of the form Union[string, Enum] and emit fully qualified enum cases ()
# Description

This PR improves enum type resolution from strings. When we try to
resolve `Union[string, Enum]` for a string expression, we choose
`string` because it is the more general type since not every string is
assignable to `Enum`. However, here we spacial case strings that are
actually part of that `Enum`.

The result is that `pcl.LowerConversion` will choose `Enum` from
`Union[string, Enum]` when the value of the input string is compatible
with the enum. This greatly improves program-gen for all of typescript,
python, csharp and go which now will emit the fully qualified enum cases
instead of emitting strings.

Closes https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi-dotnet/issues/41 which is
supposed to be a duplicate of
https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi-azure-native/issues/2616 but that is
not the case (the former is about unions of objects, the latter is
unions of enums and strings)

Update descriptions for property types defined in an external package ()
intermediary fix for: https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/issues/12765

For types that are defined in an external package, we do not render a
description and its links are broken. This is an intermediary solution
until we can render out nested types defined in external packages on the
page or derive the resource page in the external package that contains
the type definition. This PR identifies if a property type is externally
defined and places a message indicating the type is defined externally
in the description field.

# Description

When replaceOnChanges is set in the schema for a property with a
multi-word name, currently, Python SDK generation incorrectly puts its
Python name into replace_on_changes.

This is wrong, because these property names are passed to the engine and
they should be engine names (i.e. schema names). All other languages
(Node.js, .NET, Go) do this correctly.

This PR adds a test case and fixes the Python generation to use the same
naming as all other SDKs.

[program-gen] Fix panic when generating programs for MLC packages using external types ()
# Description

For an MLC package such as `aws-static-website`, it has some types which
are referenced from the `aws` package. Program-gen assumes packages are
inferred from resources and invokes, not types which caused panics in Go
(), dotnet and python
(https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi-converter-constructor-syntax/issues/2)

This PR fixes those panics. In Go the panic was due to using package
name instead of the package reference from the imported type. In dotnet
and python was due to assuming no external type references. Now we
generate nice code for all these languages.

That said, there is still an issue of resolving imports for the packages
of these external types. It works in Go, TypeScript doesn't need it but
dotnet and python do. That is why the latter are added in `SkipCompile`
in the test program.

[program-gen/go] Fix optional primitive values being derefrenced ()
# Description

Fixes where the primitive optional types were being derefrenced.
It took me a while to figure where the problem was because I couldn't
really reproduce the original issue with a new PCL program. The
`aws-optionals-pp` test case program in PCL would repro the issue when
converted from the CLI via `convert --from pcl` but not from the unit
tests even when using the exact same schema 🤔 this was really weird.
That said, the fix turned out straightforward and it does fix the same
issue in generated component resources.

It appears that Go copies testdata into every GOMODCACHE of a project
that depends on pulumi/pkg; the schemas in codegen testdata add 300MB of
weight to the GOMODCACHE needed for download. What if we moved the
testdata out from under the tree.

The move looks like this:

```
from=pkg/codegen/testing/test/testdata
to=tests/testdata/codegen/
git mv "$from" "$to"
(cd pkg/codegen/testing/test && ln -s ../../../../tests/testdata/codegen ./testdata)
git add "$from"
```

The previous location is symlinked to the new location.

Evidence of `GOMODCACHE` pressure reduction:

With this change pulumi-yaml can pick up local provider and attach to it
from PULUMI_DEBUG_PROVIDERS for the purposes of schema resolution, which
enables using non-existent test-only providers. Before the change it
would fail hard trying to download it.

Support for non-overlay components in codegen for pulumi-kubernetes provider ()

# Description

This PR enhances the codegen for dotnet to allow the pulumi-kubernetes
provider to have non-overlay components. Previously all components were
overlays and didn't require codegen.

The specific change is to not apply the `KubernetesResource` base class
when the resource is a component. It is inappropriate to use
`KubernetesResource` in this case because it extends `CustomResource`
not `ComponentResource`.

The sdkgen test suite for `kubernetes20` mode was updated with a new
example resource:
- a non-overlay component resource

Fix deprecation note formatting ()
fixes: https://github.com/pulumi/registry/issues/3983

This PR fixes up some issues with our deprecation message formatting.
The deprecation messages attached to enums were not being formatted at
all, due to a missing css class. Secondly, I also noticed there was a
whitespace missing in the deprecation message when it renders in the
browser, due to the leading `-` in `{{- .... -}}`, so I addressed that
here as well.

[dotnet] codegen fix for resources without constant input properties ()
<!---
Thanks so much for your contribution! If this is your first time

# Description

<!--- Please include a summary of the change and which issue is fixed.
Please also include relevant motivation and context. -->

This PR fixes a bug in the dotnet codegen where the wrong "args" class
name would be used, in the case that the resource has no constant
inputs. This is an edge case because most resources do have at least one
such input.

For example, a new resource definition in p/k produced this output:
```csharp
namespace Pulumi.Kubernetes.Yaml.V2
{
        public ConfigGroup(string name, Pulumi.Kubernetes.Types.Inputs.Yaml.V2.ConfigGroupArgs? args = null, CustomResourceOptions? options = null)
            : base("kubernetes:yaml/v2:ConfigGroup", name, args ?? new ConfigGroupArgs(), MakeResourceOptions(options, ""), remote: true)
        {
        }
}
```
Which doesn't compile because `ConfigGroupArgs` is in a separate
namespace.

Should be:
```csharp
        public ConfigGroup(string name, Pulumi.Kubernetes.Types.Inputs.Yaml.V2.ConfigGroupArgs? args = null, CustomResourceOptions? options = null)
            : base("kubernetes:yaml/v2:ConfigGroup", name, args ?? new Pulumi.Kubernetes.Types.Inputs.Yaml.V2.ConfigGroupArgs(), MakeResourceOptions(options, ""), remote: true)
        {
        }
```

[Here's
](https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi/pull/15488/files#diff-18b12fabab20d68398aced2890b1ca3073cc32081bb62a022b77a5090c209e3bR45)where
the fix manifests itself in the new test case.

## Testing

A new SDK test case was added to cover the whole `kubernetes20`
compatibility mode, based on a simplified schema from the
pulumi-kubernetes provider.

The schema contains a representative set of resources:
1. `kubernetes:core/v1:ConfigMap` - a non-overlay resource representing
a Kubernetes kind.
2. `kubernetes:core/v1:ConfigMapList` - a Kubernetes list kind
3. `kubernetes:helm.sh/v3:Release` - a non-overlay, non-Kubernetes
resource
4. `kubernetes:yaml:ConfigGroup` - an overlay component resource

An important detail is whether a resource has any input properties that
have a constant value, such as we see with `kind` and `apiVersion`. The
`Release` resource intentionally has no such constant inputs.
